CHICAGO, IL (10/07/11) Babe Ruth launched 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the New York (AL) Yankees
defeated the Chicago (AL) White Sox 10 to 7 at New Comiskey Park.
Ruth enjoyed a big day at the plate. He lifted one out of the park for a two
run home run in the 5th inning and bombed a two-run dinger in the 6th inning.
New York (AL) kept the pressure on throughout the contest as they scored in
6 different innings.
Waite Hoyt(2-0) went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing 7 runs for the victory. Jack
McDowell(0-2) was given the loss. He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 5 and
2/3 innings of work.

Chicago (AL) White Sox in 14 innings 6 to 5.
Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. New York (AL) won
the game in the 14th inning. After an out was recorded, Bob Meusel keyed the
rally when he drew a walk. Ruth was the next batter, but he struck out. Lou
Gehrig then lifted one out of the park for a two run home run. Ben Paschal
was up next and he slapped a one-base hit. New York (AL) managed 15 hits in
their victory.
Wilcy Moore(1-0) got the win allowing 2 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. Moore was
helped out by Bob Shawkey who recorded his 1st save. Jose Deleon(0-1) took
the loss in relief. He surrendered 3 runs and 4 hits in 3 innings.

NEW YORK (10/04/11) Designated hitter Ben Paschal rocketed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Wilcy
Moore finished beautifully as the New York (AL) Yankees defeated the Chicago
(AL) White Sox by a score of 14 to 6 at Yankee Stadium.
Paschal had a big day at the plate. He cracked a solo homerun in the 2nd
inning, stroked a single in the 4th inning, smashed a two-run homer in the
5th inning and delivered a one-base hit in the 8th inning. Moore relieved
and was untouched by Chicago (AL) as he recorded the save, his 1st.
The win was credited to Urban Shocker(1-0) who went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing
6 runs. Alex Fernandez(0-1) took the loss. New York (AL) scored big getting
6 runs off him in 4 innings.

Yankees beat the Chicago (AL) White Sox 2 to 0.
Hoyt(1-0) was simply too much for the Chicago (AL) batters. He allowed just 6
hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. New York (AL) banged out 7 hits on the
afternoon.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (10/08/11) The Philadelphia A A's nipped the Cleveland Indians 5 to 4 at Shibe Park in a
hard fought contest.
Philadelphia A claimed the early lead in the first inning plating an isolated
run utilizing 2 base hits. After two outs Al Simmons tripled. Mickey
Cochrane came next and he doubled. Cleveland threatened in the 9th but
Philadelphia A was able to put down the rally.
George Earnshaw(2-0) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings.
Lefty Grove gained credit for his 1st save. Chad Ogea(0-1) took the loss.
He surrendered 4 runs and 5 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings.

the Philadelphia A A's beat the Cleveland Indians 4 to 1.
Philadelphia A took the lead for keeps in the bottom of the 3rd inning when
they scored 2 runs on 3 hits. That was all the offense they were to need.
The Cleveland bats were silent in the 9th.
The win went to Grove(2-0) who allowed 1 run in the game. Dennis Martinez(0-2)
was the loser. He surrendered 6 hits and 1 walk in 5 and 1/3 innings.

game as the Philadelphia A A's staged a dramatic comeback over the Cleveland
Indians by a score of 5 to 4 at Jacobs Field.
Philadelphia A had the winning rally in the 9th inning when they scored 5 runs
on 5 hits. Philadelphia A finished with 9 hits in the victory.
Earnshaw(1-0) lasted until the end allowing 4 runs for the win. The losing
pitcher was Julian Tavarez(0-1) in relief. 'We just kept swinging the bats
and didn't give up,' Max Bishop said. 'If you just keep trying good things
can happen!'

CLEVELAND, OH (10/03/11) Lefty Grove was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game as the Philadelphia A's ballclub embarrassed the Cleveland
Indians by the count of 17 to 4.
Mickey Cochrane enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He banged out a single in
the 3rd inning, doubled plating all three baserunners in the 4th inning and
stroked a one-base hit plating two runs in the 9th inning. Philadelphia A
provided plenty of action in the 4th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 4
hits and the 9th inning with 9 runs on 7 hits. Philadelphia A had many
opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.
The winning pitcher was Grove(1-0) who allowed 4 runs for the game. Dennis
Martinez(0-1) took the loss. He allowed Philadelphia A 6 runs in 5 and 1/3
innings of work.
